Alabama taxpayers should use IVF ruling against the state

It’s simple.  If each embryo in Alabama is now considered a person, each couple should declare each embryo as a dependent.  Wouldn’t that be interesting if people started declaring 25, 50, 75 or more dependents?  IVF treatments are expensive and this would be a way for couples to recover some of the cost.

Yes, this is a bit tongue-in-cheek but I think it highlights the absurdity of declaring an embryo as a person but only in certain aspects of the law and in not in others, like the tax code because that would cost the state revenue.

The issue itself is very serious with very important and possibly devastating consequences.  So, if republicans are going to go there on person-hood, then go all the way!  Wouldn’t it be great if an enterprising Alabama tax attorney found a way to make it stick?

There are a number of postings on this issue and it is possible that others have already suggested this idea.  There are way too many posts for me to go through to find out.  If there is, please accept my apology for posting an idea that has already been posted.
