Pregnant Woman Has Filed Class Action Lawsuit Against KY's Ban On Abortion. KY SCOTUS Is Democratic

A Kentucky woman who is seven weeks pregnant is teaming up with the ACLU to file a class action lawsuit against the state of Kentucky’s abortion ban.  You might be thinking “So what?  KY is a deep red state, so no way will the courts rule the KY abortion ban as unconstitutional.”  I got news for you.  The last election resulted in a 4 to 3 Democratic majority on the Kentucky Supreme Court.  And to top it off, all four of those KY Supreme Court justices are women.

Here is a TV news segment on the unidentified woman as “Mary Poe”:

The previous KY SCOTUS ruled that abortion providers could not sue the state to lift the two abortion bans that are now in place in KY.  The KY SCOTUS at the times stated that a patient had to sue for the case to be heard.  Well, now we have someone who is a patient, and we have a different KY SCOTUS.

And yes, the KY SCOTUS now has a woman as the Chief Justice to boot:  Debra Hembree Lambert.

Now, I will admit that KY SCOTUS races — yes, we elect our judges — is supposed to be a “nonpartisan election.”  But everybody knows who is the Democrat and who is the Republican. And what helped clinch the deal for this year is that Democratic donors made contributions of at least one million dollars to get the first black woman a seat on the KY SCOTUS:  Pamela Goodwine.

Yes, the asshole Republican she beat —Erin Izzo was her name— is anti-abortion and a political extremist on a host of other reproductive issues.

So small shoots of good news from Redneckville.
