I was honored to be in Orlando today with Gwen and a crowd of incredible supporters. She showed compassion, grit, and a determination to work for all Floridians that can’t be beat.
I am proud to endorse Gwen Graham for Governor of Florida. When I took to the floor of the Texas State Senate to filibuster a bill that would restrict vital women’s health care access, and then ran for Governor of Texas, I did so because someone had to take a stand. Now, I’m proud to be standing with Gwen as we chart the future for the values we care about.
So many of you have stood by my side and supported me on my journey in Texas, and supported me when I stood for 13 hours in defense of women’s reproductive rights. After spending the day with Gwen, I could not be more confident that she will be a great governor for all of Florida.
In his time as governor, Rick Scott has signed legislation to slash funding for women’s reproductive care and defund Planned Parenthood. It was the same fight that I stood up for and filibustered for 13 hours in Texas. It’s the same fight that is taking place across the country, and I know you’ll stand with Gwen just like so many of you stood with me.
I know from my time with Gwen today that Florida will have a champion who will stand up when women’s rights are under attack.
This race will be as important a campaign as Florida has seen in a generation. We can’t let politicians who don’t support a woman’s right to choose to take this election. It’s time to move this state in a new direction -- let’s show Gwen some support.
