In 2017, the State Department didn’t include a section on Women’s Reproductive Rights in the Annual Human Rights Report.  The State Department made no announcement that this change was to appear in the 2017 report.  United States government should be active in advocacy for womens reproductive rights. Women globally should be treated with respect and they should have unlimited abilities to get the health care they need.  Last year congressmembers introduced a bill called, H.R.7228 Reproductive Rights are Human Rights Act of 2018.  For more details on this, read the December 10, 2018 press release from Representative Nita Lowey (https://lowey.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/congressmembers-introduce- ) The bill demands the State Department to insert a section on reproductive rights of women in its annual human rights reports.  Planned Parenthood is very supportive of this bill.

There is likelihood more states will defund Planned Parenthood.  Whatever can be turned around, it is important for citizens to write or their representatives.  Planned Parenthood clinics provide necessary health services for people of color, low income, women, and LGBTQ community.
