The Yertle party speaks for men's rights: Steve Daines (R-MT) thinks Women are like Sea Turtles

Daines went on to say that "the left" cares more about the eggs of certain reptiles and birds than about human women's eggs. Apparently the Montana senator is horrified by the idea of women having more bodily autonomy than animals. Because fetuses are apparently pre-born or maybe par-boiled, since he likened 'pre-born' human beings to sea turtle eggs. This is what passes for GOP arguments as the GOP senate plus Joe Manchin voted for a filibuster. After all, to Steve Daines, women lay eggs, maybe in nests or in beach sand.

Sen. Steve Daines of Montana, a long-time opponent of abortion rights, has been hoping to see the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade — and it appears that he is going to get his wish. The Republican senator and hardcore social conservative reiterated his anti-abortion views during a May 10 speech on the Senate floor, arguing that if the eggs of sea turtles enjoy legal protection, there is no reason why abortion should be legal. And he is being brutally mocked on social media for his ridiculous analogy.

The 59-year-old Daines, during his speech, told his colleagues, "If you were to take or destroy the eggs of a sea turtle — now I said, the eggs…. The criminal penalties are severe: up to a $100,000 fine and a year in prison. Now, why do we have laws in place to protect the eggs of a sea turtle, or the eggs of eagles? Because, when you destroy an egg, you're killing a pre-born baby sea turtle or a pre-born baby eagle. Yet when it comes to a pre-born human baby rather than a sea turtle, that baby will be stripped of all protections in all 50 states…. Is that the America the left wants?"

The Montana Republican’s argument rested on the notion that wildlife had more protections than human embryos — disregarding the autonomy rights of individuals altogether.

“Why do we have laws in place that protect the eggs of a sea turtle, or the eggs of eagles?” Daines questioned rhetorically in his complaint. “Because when you destroy an egg, you’re killing a pre-born baby sea turtle or a pre-born baby eagle. Yet when it comes to a pre-born human baby — rather than a sea turtle — that baby would be stripped of all protections, in all 50 states, under the Democrats’ bill that we’ll be voting on.”

Daines was referring to the Women’s Health Protection Act, legislation that would codify the constitutional right to an abortion into federal law, which the Senate failed to pass on Wednesday.)

Curiously, at no point in this speech lamenting that human women have too many rights compared to reptiles and birds, did Daines—who actually loves killing living things—acknowledge that humans do not lay eggs, that human embryos stay inside the mother until they are born, and that people are not endangered species. Nor did he get into the details of “the America” that he wants, wherein the victims of incest and rape would be forced to give birth to their attacker’s child.
